Q.
|
What are the benefits of being an online user?
|
|
A.
|
As an online user you can manage your private and secure account from
anywhere in the world at a time that is most convenient. It is the
quickest way to view and update your details and you can also upload and
maintain important documents with your online account – why not use the
site to store copies of passport, driving license or flight tickets? If
you include your expiry dates with your documents, we will even contact
you to remind you when it is time to renew.
|
|
Q.
|
What are the benefits of having my documents stored online with Card Defence?
|
|
A.
|
The number of documents that you can upload onto your account is almost
limitless and so are the situations in which you would be glad you did.
The secure website is the perfect storage area for your important or
personal documents – quick to upload, easy to maintain and convenient to
access. By uploading your documents you can be notified of upcoming
renewal dates and benefit from our 24 hour customer service team who can
provide you with copies in the event of the originals being lost, damaged
or stolen.
When might I need to use this service?
-
Booking a holiday or buying a travel visa online? It’s unlikely that
you will have the vital passport details to hand, but with a few
clicks you can have access to all the information you need, stored
in your personal Card Defence account.
-
Don’t risk turning up to the airport with an expired passport or
travel insurance policy – register their expiry date and we will
contact you to remind you when it is time to renew.
-
Identity theft is a growing problem in the UK, and if your personal
documents were stolen their criminal usage could have a devastating
affect on your credit rating and official applications in the
future. Whilst little can be done to protect the originals, by
storing copies of your birth certificate and personal identification
documents online you’ll have extra crucial evidence to support your
identity when liaising with the authorities to resolve disputes.
-
It’s everyone’s nightmare – turning up to your hotel only to be told
that they haven’t received your reservation. And worse, you left the
receipt at home as you rushed to beat the bank holiday weekend
traffic – what now? One call to the Card Defence team and we will be
happy to fax over your receipt to the hotel, at any time of day and
to anywhere in the world.
-
Your suitcase is packed full enough when you go away – instead of
packing all your paperwork, upload all your travel insurance
documents to your online Card Defence account before you leave.
Should you need to read your policy you can simply print out from
the site or have it faxed to your location.
|
|
Q.
|
Can you organise replacement of documents?
|
|
A.
|
In the event that your documents, especially your passport, are lost,
damaged or stolen we will fax the details and a copy of the document data
to you, the embassy or consulate you require to facilitate a speedy
document replacement.
|
|
Q.
|
If I change address, will you inform my Card issuers?
|
|
A.
|
Yes. In order to do this you need to provide us with a signed written
request. You are welcome to update your details via your online account,
but in order to prevent fraud your bank requests that we provide an
original signature when notified of an address change (i.e. not a scan
sent by email). For this reason, we have created a form which can be
completed online, printed, signed and posted or faxed to us - the form
can be downloaded from here, and posted to:
Customer Service team,
American Express Card Defence,
PO BOX 51417,
London,
N17 0YP.
Or alternatively, faxed to us on 0200 200 9904.
Allow up to 5 working days from receipt of your letter by Card Defence,
for them to notify all issuers of your change of address. Please note that
whilst we action your changes within this time-frame, card issuer
procedure for updating customer details varies. This will affect the
period of time it takes the card issuer’s own records to change.
|
|
Q.

Will you arrange for replacement cards to be issued?
|
|
A.
|
Yes, we will inform all your card issuers of your loss and request that they issue you with a replacement card.
Membership or loyalty cards
Card Defence offers the facility to upload membership and loyalty cards, along with your payment cards. These can be relating to gym membership, airlines, supermarket loyalty, schools and colleges - in fact, any cards that you would normally store in your wallet or bags. For this reason, it is often impossible for us to guarantee that the card issuer will always be able to issue an immediate replacement.
To help make the service more efficient and effective, please provide as much information and contact details as you can when you register the card. This will make it easier for us to contact the issuer and arrange where possible, the replacement of your lost cards.
